Double Website Traffic & Triple the Customers
Now I am putting my money where my mouth is!
2 weeks ago, I put up a new version of my website.
My objective is to double the visitor traffic and triple the number of
Enquiries by December 2003.
This is both part of my normal marketing strategy and an
experiment on techniques that I can offer my customers when their sites
stop growing. Of course, you can also spend money on cost per click
advertising; but the crucial interest is to see how far you can get for
free.
The first step was to review the keyword selection for
which the old site was optimised. I have discarded those phrases
that brought traffic but did not help any sales. In their place I have
chosen more relevant keywords that are more used in the search engines,
but where there is often more competition.
The new keywords - correctly used - should double the
visitor traffic.
The next step was to review the structure and navigation
of the site to focus on the relevant services. That way I hope to increase
the response rate from a 1% average to 1.5%. The final result should
therefore be to triple the number of relevant enquiries.
The first effect was to lose some of my old top rank
positions and the traffic that went with them. Google though has now
re-indexed the site and some of the new keywords are climbing the charts.
